Chad: Solar plants

titel-chad

In January 2011, the first few of a total of 26 solar plants will be erected with the help of the Italian aid organisation “Fraternità Missionaria”. The plants are designed for the power supply of batteries.

With these batteries and a number of chemical processes, sodium chloride will be produced, which in concentrated form is ultimately designed to supply clean drinking water to the poor. This will also prevent infectious diseases, because with this method, around 99.9% of harmful bacteria and viruses are destroyed. In addition to generating clean drinking water, sodium chloride is also used to disinfect wounds, surgical instruments, bedding, babies’ feeding bottles etc. The chemical is a major contribution to improved hygiene and thus helps reduce infant mortality and increases overall life expectancy.
