
The organisation “Unsere kleinen Brüder und Schwestern” (our little brothers and sisters) has been caring for abandoned and orphaned children in Latin America and the Caribbean since 1954.
Since then, more than 16,000 children have found a new home and thus a chance for a better future (www.hilfefuerwaisenkinder.de).
The planned direct actions after the Haiti earthquake included the rescue and medical treatment of injured victims as well as the supply of food and clothing. Around 100 staff members supported more than 1,500 children and adolescents in late February 2010. Plans are made to integrate another 500 orphans into the children’s’ village in Kenscoff. vita has provided financial support for the direct actions performed to help the earthquake victims.
